Politics and Business

As most of you all ready know,  I’m very passionate when it comes to both politics and business.   In my life I try to be the person I feel I need to be, not the person my environment wants me to be.  I have no problem throwing my ideas out on my Blog and Facebook account. If you ask for my political opinion I will be more than willing to give it.  My ideals and thoughts on subjects often surprise people. My physical appearance and recreational activities often make people think I’m rather left sided or liberal.  At the same time I’m a 2nd amendment loving fiscally conservative right aisle kind of guy.

I do not worry about clients or employers reading what I think or forming opinions about me. If you don’t like what I have, and you don’t want to do business that is fine with.  There are allot of Jobs/carriers out there.  I do not put people down for there opinions. Every one has the right to state there opinion and I have the right to not listen and go my own way.  One core principle that drives me is, life is full of choices,  You must make the choice that is best for you.  All choices have consequences that should be factored into all choices.  So once your choice is made don’t sit and whine about the outcome.  It’s your choice to be happy and it’s your choice to make changes in your life.   I’m a firm believer in people needing to  take responsibility for themselves.

Here is a brief overview of me in a nutshell

Business

All business big or small has some social responsibility. If you pollute an area or use up a communities resources then you need to find a way to put them back.  Either clean up the mess or fund allot of research to undo the problem that you may have created.  The best way for a market to grow is to build the community.  Giving money to schools helps insure better education, and better education leads to better employees in the future.

Equal rights:

I don’t care what religion your worship. Who you sleep with or what you do with your body.  As long as you are not hurting any one else in the process and I don’t have to pay for it in the long run.  Cary on and be happy.  Your voice has just as much right to be heard as mine.

Taxes: State and city level only. Schools, Roads, Police, Fire,  and essential functions only.  Federal taxes should only be placed on imports, If you buy from outside of the country then you pay a tax on it.

I think that about sums it up for now.

Writing because I want to.

All through my child hood I was told that I had a very creative and vivid imagination.  I have always loved creating and sharing stories with people. I could play for hours by myself making up scenarios of adventure and exploration. Later in child hood, around age 12, I discovered role playing. Dungeons and Dragons and other games allowed me to really explore the world of fantasy. I could write thirty to sixty page campaigns in a night.

My love for writing was quickly trained out of me. My handwriting has always been that of a Dr’s, virtually impossible to read. My grade school teachers used to tell my mother, “Don’t worry about his handwriting, by the time he is in high school and college everything will be typed.”  So no more focus was ever placed on my handwriting.  In middle school I had the worst English teacher ever. This woman had no place teaching children, let alone teaching them how to express themselves.  I was pretty much told by her to just float along and try to make it.  The future would hold spell check and grammar checks.

In high school, I had teachers who were just floored by the fact that I made it to high school, was unable to write freehand, and could not edit my own work. I finally grew so frustrated I just gave up and only wrote when I absolutely had to. I made sure all of my papers were edited by friends who had a much better mastery at the English language than I did. I had other teachers that were just blown away at my ability to read and comprehend. Apparently, if your not able to write, you should not be able to read.

What college classes I have taken were the same way; I always had friends edit my work before I submitted it. I also always tried to avoid the grammar snobs in written word debates when ever possible. My inability to write is now causing me problems in my business life and projects. Working in social media and web marketing requires a lot of written content to be created, and there is not always time for an editor to look things over before they go out. Tweets and Facebook updates must be able to go out with little to no error the first time; the world of dynamic content waits for no one.

So, soon, I must swallow my pride and face my fears head on. I’m going to start taking some English and writing courses this term. I’m also going to follow the advice of a close friend and just write because I want to. Let things pour from my head and go back and try to clean it up myself before handing it to my editors. Practice makes perfect after all.

I am my own test subject

Some times you just have to do it to yourself.

Play with plugins

I’m playing with WordPresss and trying to find one that will aggregate to twitter the way I want it.

Can you be more than one person?

For me the answer to this question is yes.

For years I have had multiple different hats. By day I have been a Computer geek at a rather bland everyday job. By night I have been a bouncer/DJ at Strip Clubs/Gentlemans clubs and wild dance clubs.  I have done web work for adult sites as well as right winged non for profit.  I do not think it’s ethically wrong two be two separate people in this way.

The reason for this is one of my main rules to live by

Every decision has consequences weather they be negative or positive consequences are always there.  So If I choose to take a job that may cause friends/ Family/ Clients or Employers to become unhappy with me. I know that risk is there and I will decide weather it is worth it.

I do not hide things either. If asked I will fully disclose the answer to the questions asked of me. But I do reserve the right to choose how and when I answer.   But back to my philosophy, you may really not want to know the answer.

I’m not really sure were I’m going with this post,  It’s just something that has been swimming around my brain.  I have had some weird reactions from people out here when they find out I used to be highly active in the Goth/Industrial community.

Ok I have no idea how to close this post but I need to get back to work.

Jumping into 2011

I really hate year in review blog posts and podcasts.

I’m noticing more and more of the blogs I read and podcasts I listen too are doing year in review or best of updates and shows.  In my opinion that is rather annoying, so I will not be doing that here. Instead I’m going to go over what I wish to accomplish in 2011.

A:  The house.  I would love to have all remodel and home improvement projects done and out of the way.  The more self sufficient the house is the happier I will be.

B: Me. I’m going to work on sharpening skill that I have been working on over the past couple of years, Such as CSS/PHP and Podcasting.

C:  Business.  I’m going to get all of the business projects that make me happy off the ground by the end of 2011.  No more excuses! I have stepped away from allot of my commitments and other projects to free up time.  Now I need to use this time to go forth and really make things happen.

D: Training.  I will be taking more tactical weapons courses in 2011,  There are allot more schools and instructors here in Iowa then there were in Oregon.

E: Travel.  I will be traveling allot more for fun rather than business that is damn sure.

F: Association.  I need to step back into some community involvement. This means really getting things going with my local Lodge.

Well that is the basic outline of what I have planned for 2011

Wow I actually got a response!!!

Some one actually asked me a question and wanted a real response!!!

Question: I want to know what were some of the things that happened when you moved to Iowa that made you think…….hmmmm that never would’ve happened back home or WOW do I really live here?

A: There are a few things that come to mind here.  First,  The first Time Brandi and I went shopping.  In Portland the only place you can get hard alcohol is in a liquor store, here in Council Bluffs almost any major store you walk into has an isle dedicated to it.   The second thing would honestly be the weather.  This winter has not been bad when it comes to the amount of snow or even the cold. What got to me was driving back from Omaha about to weeks ago and the wind picking up and there being a total whiteout.  Oh and I cant forget the second or third day after moving here.   I was going to walk up the street to the Kum and Go , and get a cup of coffee.    I opened the door and the sky was this dark gray and was turning black, the clouds were moving super fast and it started to look like dusk instead of mid morning. There were no birds singing or crickets chirping. Then the rain came (For all of my native Portland readers,  Our rain does not hold a candle to the freak rainstorms out here).  The rain was so heavy the windshield wipers could barely keep up with it, and during said rain storm it was still like 85 degrees outside.

Well I hope that answers your Question.
I’m sure I will write more about the differences between here and my home town later.

New, and up for now

I’m going to try this again.   For some reason a large part of me wants to start blogging again.  I really have no idea what I’m going to talk about, or how often I will update.  Same rules apply now as they did the last time I tried this, there will be no edits done.  So if there are comas missing or punctuation is. Or I just choose to use the wrong word. That’s the price of admission for reading.

If there are any topics, you my readers would like me to address.  Just drop me a line and I will jump on it as soon as I possibly can.

Other than that sit aback and enjoy as I change themes 200 times (What? Did you not think I was going to use this as my personal CSS playground?)

Also enjoy this brief gimps into my life. You may learn something new or fascinating, and you might even learn a few things you did not wan to know about me.
